Temperature distribution calculation and analysis for full containment LNG tank

Abstract:Full containment LNG tanks are widely adopted in Chinese LNG receiving terminals. LNG tanks are used as storing cryogenic fluid, its large temperature difference between the inside and outside and complicated structure, so temperature distribution has great effect on tank structure design. A full containment LNG tank of a LNG receiving terminal in china was selected as the object, the structure and heat transfer process of tank body were analyzed, the temperature distribution calculation model was established, the temperature distribution of the top, the wall and the bottom of the tank were calculated by ANSYS and the calculation results were analyzed. The design of tank structure should be considered thermal stress influence of contact spot between the insulation layer and inner tank; at the same time, the optimization of the tank bottom structure can effectively reduce the tank bottom heat leakage.
