Analysis of the friction between stations of the crude oil pipeline calculated by SPS software

Abstract:Stoner Pipeline Simulator software is recognized worldwide for long-distance oil (gas) pipeline design, calculation, as well as the full range of automation and control software simulation of high-precision. Broader application in the steady state and transient liquid pipe network computing, many oil pipeline engineering research and design applications have use the software in the domestic. In this paper, the anomaly (that is, as the temperature increases, friction between stations increases) in the SPS simulation study was researched; the calculation method generally used and the calculation method used by SPS software of the friction factor were described, after contrast and analysis, the reason for the anomaly was founded out. The reason of the anomalies is the method of calculation of the friction coefficient in the laminar flow to a turbulent transition zone used by SPS software. In fact, the transition zone within the flow state is very unstable, and should generally be avoided in the region.
